Fresh Homemade Salsa

My favorite food this summer has been fresh homemade salsa. I have literally eaten it by the cupful -- it is that delicious. I only apolgize for not getting the recipe to you sooner.

Chelsea's Delicious Fresh Salsa
Ripe Red Tomatoes
Onions (any variety)
Garlic (a clove or two, optional)
Serrano Pepper (I usually just use half the pepper, seeds and all)
Cilantro (a few stems and leaves)
Lime Juice
Salt
Tortilla Chips

Chop it all up by hand or in a nifty little food processor and ENJOY!

Livin' on Love

Conversation overheard. Dave is talking to a young couple in love who want to get married but finances are a bit strapped.

Dave: Money isn't always necessary. You can live on love for the first few years of marriage.

Couple: If only we could!

Dave: Sure you can! If you get hungry, just nibble on each other!

General Relief Society Meeting

Today has been a very long day at work. This morning I rehearsed the choir for the Saturday afternoon session of conference, and too early in the afternoon the Relief Society choir came in to prepare for tonight's meeting.

Dave, my sweet husband, met me during my two hour break and took me out to lunch at TGIFridays. It was a wonderful two hours. Lunch was great and spending time during the busy day with my husband was even better.

After lunch Dave hung out with me for an hour or so as I began part two of the day. He noticed that I have no pockets in my skirt and because I have to keep my cell phone on me at all times, I often stick it through the shoulder strap of my bra. This allows me to use both hands but it can be a bit embarrassing when it rings and I have to reach down my blouse to retrieve it.

Dave soon took off but before I knew it he was back with a gift.

He went and bought me this cute little bag so I can keep my phone in it instead of my bra. What a sweet, wonderful man! It is the perfect little purse to use here at the Conference Center. Thank you, Honey!!!

Cupcakes

I know these aren't as good as Megan's cupcake creations but I love how the little decorations turned out. I made them myself for my sister-in-law's baby shower out of Crayola embellishments I picked up in the clearance aisle at Michaels!

A Giveaway to Smile About

My wonderful dentist of a husband is giving away GIFT CARDS. He has just started a new patient referral program at his dental office.

Now I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Shh!

Here's how you can maximize on his giveaway...

Let's say you have a cute family of five: Dad, Mom, and three kiddies. Mom calls and makes an appointment to see Dr. Dave Huffaker. During her visit with the dentist, she is given a clean bill of health and then talks to Maggie at the front desk to make appointments for Dad and the three children. When Dad and the kids come to their first appointment, they fill out the New Patient Referral Form and write that Mom referred them to see Dr. Dave. Within a few days Maggie will call Mom and thank her for referring new patients to Dr. Dave's dental practice. As a token of appreciation, Maggie is going to send Mom four (4) gift cards (that is one gift card for Dad and another for each of the three kiddies)!

It's that easy and totally legal! Right now and until they run out, Dr. Dave has $10 gift cards to Chili's or Applebees. Think of what a great night out the family could have for just going to see the dentist!

Call Maggie now and get that first appointment scheduled.
801-292-5172

(I would have you tell her I referred you but I've been told that I'm not eligible to earn gift cards.) :(

Bowling

So Dave has this thing where he says first date bowling is the Mormon equivalent to the world's typical going out for drinks on a first date. You can imagine, then, how many games my Dave has bowled in his quest for a wife. In fact, the first time he called me he left a message and said, "Maybe we could go bowling some time." We never went. I like to think our relationship worked out because we didn't go bowling -- I wasn't just like all the other girls he had dated through the years.

To celebrate our first year together (that would be 1 year since we started dating), we went bowling. I figure it is safe now that we have made it official with rings and a ceremony and all.

I am pleased to say that I WON! (at least the first game)

The second game didn't go so well. But my thumb started swelling and was getting stuck in the ball and all the other balls around us had too big of a thumb hole and there were these cute little kids bowling next to us that kept distracting me, etc. etc. etc.

This is so humiliating but I promised Dave I would put it up. Great job, Honey!

Cranford

I laughed. I cried. I loved this movie.

(Dave watched most of it with me, which I think was because he enjoyed mocking the characters and their frivolous lives.)

Happenings Book Date, Episode 4

The Sconecutter (D?), Centerville
The best advice I can give you is to stay away from this restaurant. And maybe it's just this location, but stay away. It really wasn't even worth the $3 we saved.

That's How You Know

I had a very "Enchanted" date with Dave the other day. He surprised me with a pretty little corsage of pink roses. After dinner we ended up dancing in our living room while he sang along to the song on the radio. What a sweet guy. That's how I know he loves me!

Happenings Book Date, Episode 3

Hagermann's Bakery (D97), Salt Lake City
This date was with my mom. I was in desperate need of girl-time with her so called her to join me for lunch. We each had a pretty good sandwich but I would like to try it one more time before I make a final decision. The good news is that you get a delicious cookie with every meal. Next time I'll have to go earlier in the day so I can try one of the cupcakes they advertise on their website.
